Organize Your Home, Your Office, And Your Life Once And For All!

Most of us agree that we need to take steps toward cleaning out all of the clutter in our lives. You may want to tidy your house in general, file your paperwork, organize your office, complete any unfinished projects that have been weighing on your mind, or clean out your closets. Whatever it is which will contribute to de-cluttering your life, now is the time to get started.

Where to begin? Make a list of each room in your home which needs de-cluttering. Decide on which room you will tackle first. Maybe you want to begin with your closet. Take out each item in your closet including each item of clothing, each pair of shoes, and whatever else you may be storing in your closet. Place each item in one of four piles: l) Items to be thrown away; 2) Items to be given away; 3) Items which could be sold in a yard sale; 4) Items to keep. Next, put all items in your “to keep” pile back in the closet in an orderly fashion. You may decide to color code your clothes, or arrange them by seasons or “business” attire vs. “casual” attire. You may choose to purchase plastic see-through bins to store out-of-season clothes, purses, or other items.

Your home office may be the next room on your list. Once again, you need to place every item which has not already been filed in a pile in the center of the room. Look at each piece of paper, each book, each receipt. Decide what can be thrown away and throw it away. Decide what needs to be filed and file it in an existing file or create a new one. File receipts in an expandable file to be used for future accounting purchases or returns. Place files which are used on a regular basis in a place which is accessible to you, such as near your computer.

When our lives are surrounded by clutter, over-crowded drawers and closets, loose items, or un-filed papers, it is hard to concentrate on the important matters in your life. If you cannot put you finger on EVERYTHING you are looking for, then you need to get going on the organization in your home and office. And, remember that we can achieve order and harmony in every aspect of our lives with a habit of neatness.
